Description: Here we have a TRUE ORIGINAL original cabinet photo card capturing the ICONIC INDUSTRIAL FEAT, of the Ferris Wheel at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair! Taken at an angle on the Midway Plaisance at the Columbian Exposition, I have not been able to find this exact card orientation and this particular back layout. The additional "COPYRIGHT APPLIED FOR" stamp, is a nice bonus, making one think how the photographer rights battles were at that time. This has been inside an untouched jewellery box in the back of a closet on a main floor for who knows, (at least since 1951 when things in that closet got moved in)( so its not been in pressed contact with acidic old papers in that time, like so many) and the paper is quite solid and unodored. The statistics layout on the reverse is more eye-appealing to me than the usual layout seen. There is a small crease that is quite solid and measures 3/4" at the top right of the ferris wheel, and a 1/4" shallower one at the ferris wheel that isn't noticeable from the front. The photo measures 6.5" in length and 4-1/4" in width, and is a true piece of history. With its detailed statistics and beautiful composition, this photo is a must-have for any collector of world's fair memorabilia, historical architecture, or photographic history. The photo was manufactured in the United States, and this one is a truly a rare find for anyone interested in this there!.
