Description: For your consideration is this extremely unusual antique wooden smoking pipe with a delicately carved dog seated on the top. I believe it may be of Japanese origin and called a Kiseru. The dog has glass bead eyes with a few links of a metal chain attached to the collar. There may or may not have been a few more links. They may have been attached at one time to either a netsuke or a small tobacco pouch called a inro. There is a thin metal band where the mouthpiece is fitted into the body of the pipe. The pipe is 4-7/8 inches long and 1-3/4 inches tall which includes the dog.As you can see, the muzzle of the dog is not present. Please read the rest of the condition description above and view photos for further detail as they are part of the description.A wonderful piece for your collection!Choice of USPS Priority Mail or USPS Ground Advantage shipping.I welcome any questions/comments you may have.
