Description: This exceptional antique pitcher, made of semi porcelain and granite in Fenton, England between 1880 and 1891, is classic John Edwards Ironstone. This is a wonderful example of the work done by Edwards primarily for export to and daily use in nineteenth century America and the American territories. Though Edwards was an active artisan, manufacturer, and retailer from 1840 through 1900, the stamp on the bottom (*Warranted, Edwards, Ironstone China, John Edwards, England, Trademark') identifies this piece as manufactured in Fenton between 1880 to 1890. Raised decorative scrollwork around the bottom of the pitcher and near the top is an excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Same with the scrollwork on the handle and spout. For its age, this piece is in amazing condition. No cracks, chips, or crazing. Slight shelf wear/scuffing on the bottom of each of the four (slightly raised) pedestals, and discoloration / stains in spots around bottom perimeter and on each of the pedestal "legs". Inside, very clean with no crazing or stains visible. Please see pictures carefully. Seam lines visible at front and back of pitcher. The pure white color, simple decorative touches, and interesting oblong shape make this a beautiful piece for decor, use, or museum display.
