Description: Breyer Traditional Model Horse Stretch MORGAN #48 Solid Face Variation? (Fake?) ♥ DESCRIPTIONPLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BUYING.PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BUYING. This listing is for a Breyer traditional model horse:MORGAN #48 on the Stretch Morgan mold. At first glance, this appears to be the rarest variation for this model."The solid face variation is the rarest of the 3 versions. Solid face variation $400-$500, based on 2021 sold auction price." (Referenced from breyervalueguide.com).HOWEVER, upon closer inspection, it appears that this model may have been painted over with another coat of black paint.! ! ! Please buy with caution, as this may be a fake ! ! !The underbelly and legs of the model appears to have the original factory matte finish, although there are a couple spots on the legs that are also kind of shiny. Working upwards, this finish shifts to a semigloss-type finish that creates the shiny black aspect that you see in the pictures. Where this finish shifts (around the right side of the barrel in particular), there are subtle "paint drip" markings, leading me to believe there was a second coat of paint added on top of a matte model at some point. You can also see this semigloss to matte shift in the 'V' of the chest, where the top of the V is shiny but the bottom of the V is matte. Unless these things can be factory flaws/discrepancies, or a result of incorrect storage damage from heat or other means causing the paint to melt, I'm leaning towards this being a fake/altered model. But I am not 100% certain. You can still clearly see each of the "chatter marks" (especially on the face) caused by dremels from the factory plastic clean-up process, which was commonly done with the underlying plastic of older models. I would expect a fake/shoddy paint job to cover these up or get stuck in these spots, so I'm not quite sure what to think. There's some evidence on both sides in my opinion. ! ! ! Please buy with caution, as this may be a fake ! ! !If you'd like to take a chance on this, that's up to you! CONDITIONAL NOTES:Ear tip rubs: Minor, but the right ear tip is bent backwards. Hoof rubs: Moderate Other flaws: There's a divot in the model's cheek near the right jawline. There are small marks present all over the model, especially around the back and rump. The classic nostril rubs are also present. I've provided as many pictures as I can to show the discrepancies. Please let me know if you have any additional questions before buying, as I've done my best to describe what I can! As such, I will not be responsible if it does turn out to be a fake, as I've stated clearly my concerns about this piece.
