Description: DATING TO THE CIVIL WAR ERA TWO PIECE IN CONSTRUCTION FASHIONED OF A GREEN WINDOWPANE SILK TAFFETA WITH A STRIPING IN BLACK. HOOK AND STRING EYE CLOSURE IN THE FRONT WITH THE TOP TRIMMED IN BLACK SILK VELVET AND CLUNY LACE TRIM. SLEEVES ARE SET OFF THE SHOULDER WITH PIPED DETAILING. SILK VELVET BOWS ARE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SLEEVE ON THE OUTER EDGE. BUST IS SLIGHTLY BATTED ON THE INTERIOR AND IS FULLY LINED IN A UTILTARIAN COTTON WITH BONING IN A FAN IN THE FRONT AS WELL AS THE SIDES. BUTTONS ON THE WAISTBAND FOR ATTACHING THE SKIRT. THE SKIRT CLOSES AT THE SIDE WITH THE REAR FLOWING IN A LONG TRAIN. THE BOTTOM IS TRIMMED IN BINDING THAT IS LIGHT GREEN WITH THE MATCHING COTTON LINING THE INTERIOR. SMALL HIDDEN WATCH POCKET IS ON THE WAISTLINE WITH AN ADDITIONAL HIDDEN POCKET ON THE SEAM AT THE SIDE. CONDITION: THE CONDITION OF THIS PIECE IS TRULY MUSEUM WITH ONLY A FEW SLIGHT FLAWS. THE INNER BODICE HAS FIVE SMALL RUST STAINS THAT ARE NOT SEEN FROM THE EXTERIOR. THE BOW ON THE LEFT SLEEVE NEEDS TO BE STITCHED BACK. A SLIGHT DISCOLORATION IS SEEN BENEATH THE UNDERARMS THAT IS IN A BLUEISH HUE. EYES ARE NEEDED ON THE WAISTBAND OF THE SKIRT AND THERE ARE THREE TINY HOLES FROM THE HOOK MISSING. PINHEAD HOLES AND WEAR ARE ALONG THE SKIRT AT THE CLOSURE ON THE FOLDS AND ARE EASILY MENDED. THERE ARE SIX PINPOINT STAINS TO THE SKIRT THAT MUST BE HUNTED FOR.
