You can find this under the battery cover. 2) The immobilizer portion of the key must be reflashed by a qualified third party. For this, you should utilize a locksmith who is familiar with Volkswagen vehicles and has the correct equipment, or one of the other eBay sellers who offer this service. Volkswagen dealerships cannot do this part for you, as it requires aftermarket equipment that they do not have. 3) The metal blade of the key must be replaced, and then cut to match the lock cylinders of your vehicle. New replacement blades can be acquired from several other eBay sellers, and cut by most locksmiths as long as you have a functional existing key. 4) The key must then be programmed to your vehicle by a qualified locksmith who is familiar with Volkswagen vehicles and has the correct equipment. We do not recommend the use of Volkswagen dealerships for this - it is likely to lead to wasted money and time. Use an honest and experienced third-party locksmith instead.
