Imperial Japanese troops rounded up non-Asian civilians and interred them in camps for the duration of the war. One of the refugee flights is depicted in the frontispiece photograph. .Note that the publication date coincides to the month with the outbreak of war in Europe, with Germany's invasion of Poland in September of 1939.
