Description: Luxman's R-117 was released during the CD era. Thus it was engineered to perform with a much wider dynamic range. For some reason the engineers also decided to use a massive, triple-shielded, high-energy transformer with ultra fast recovery rectifier diodes and matched high-current, bipolar transistor pairs in its design. The result is a staggering 700 watts per channel of dynamic power into 2 Ohms! But with more reasonable 4 Ohm speakers it'll still output an impressive 250 watts per channel. Not only does the R-117 handle digital sources, but it crosses over into LP and analog territory exceptionally well. It handles both MM and MC phono cartridge's. Even the tuner with a 5-gang varactor, dual gate MOSFET FM front end and automatic hi-blend circuitry is a joy to listen to. Many who have owned an R-117 wish they could have it back. The amplifier section rivals many high performance received available today. Some consider the R-117 to be one of the best receivers ever built. This unit is in good operating condition and passed all of our bench tests. All of the lighting and controls are working properly. The original remote works like it was new. This would make a nice receiver for a 2 channel audio system. The only defect is the R CD input is broken. It could be fixed but there are plenty of other inputs a CD player can be connected to.
