This is the first annual catalog that no longer uses an asbestos backing in their flooring. Instead of asbestos Mannington Mills used a poly felt backing.There's still an asbestos dust warning opposite the technical information table. It states, "Do not remove existing resilient floor covering, backing, or lining felt by sanding, as it may contain asbestos fibers. Inhalation of asbestos dust may cause asbestosis or other serious bodily harm. Smoking greatly increases the risk of asbestosis or serious bodily harm." So it took until 1984 for Mannington Mills to start using a non-asbestos backing on their flooring. There's a three page list of distributors (2 pages domestic/1 page international).
