Description: RARE! Authentic British Colonial Era Metropolitan Police & Fire Whistle This is an authentic British Colonial era Metropolitan Police & Fire Whistle. This classic whistle design was originally manufactured in Birmingham England by the ACME Whistle Company. This whistle was manufactured in Germany. I found it during my most recent antiques picking expedition around the Golden Triangle Region. It dates back to time of British colonial rule over South Asia was under the direct rule of the British Viceroy in Bombay (Note: I have included more info about British Colonial Burma below) and was most likely used by British Colonial Police South Asia (most likely in Rangoon since I found it along with some old Rangoon City Police whistles). The ACME Whistle company is one of the world's oldest whistle companies and boasts "There is no whistle available today, from any source, that doesn’t owe its existence to a concept or design pioneered by Acme." . I think it is made of brass but I am not absolutely certain. Anyway, it is pretty sturdy and weighs about 15 grams... and yes... it still works. If you find yourself attracted to it, why not...
