It forms crooked stems and branches and gets a peeling grayish bark. It has compound leaves with 3 pairs of bi-pinnate leaves. The plant does have thorns. The straight bole can be 30 - 50cm in diameter.The tree yields a very ornamental wood and so is commonly harvested from the wild. It can be used as a pioneer tree for restoring woodland and, as a very ornamental tree that is valued especially for its decorative trunk, it is suitable for landscaping purposes in urban areas.The plant has a very restricted range and its habitat is under severe threat from human activity.
