Description: Offered is the vintage book "The Last of the Confederate Privateers", written by David and Joan Hay and published by Crescent Books. The book about Confederate Navy Captain John Brain has a 1977 copyright date and appears to be a first edition. There are numerous black and white illustrations, maps and photos. The original dust jacket is included. The book is approx. 8 3/4" x 5 3/4" and contains 178 pages, including the index. The book itself is in excellent condition. The gray hard cover has no wear, the gold words on the spine still shiny. There is no cracking inside either the front or the back cover. The white endpapers have yellowed slightly but are otherwise clean. I see no missing or torn pages and all are well-attached to the binding, clean and clear, although slightly yellowing. I see no writing in the book. The dust jacket has some short edge tears along the top and bottom edges, with some small bits missing. It has browned slightly along the spine. I have a lot of experience with antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions. I will do my best to answer them!
