Williams, who was one of the members of the Tuskegee Airmen, the famous all-black group of military pilots (both fighter and bomber) and airmen who fought in World War II. They formed the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group (Medium) of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). They were educated at the Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University), located near Tuskegee, Alabama. Donald A. Williams (1922-2018) was born in Newark, Ohio. His family moved to Homestead, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from high school. He attended both the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State College.
